Device-based collagen stimulation in Riga
ResurFX, Ulthera, and fractional CO₂ act at different tissue depths and involve different recovery. A doctor selects technology according to the concern, skin phototype, tissue structure, and treatment intensity that can be planned safely.
- Diagnosis-led selection
- Individual depth and settings
- Realistic recovery plan
Deeper treatment without removing the surface
Ulthera shows why a treatment cannot be selected by device name alone
In the video, Dr Viktorija Muraško explains how focused ultrasound reaches deeper layers and how results develop over months. ResurFX and CO₂ work differently and target skin structure and texture.

Hello! I am Dr Viktorija Muraško, a dermatologist and venereologist at RDG Clinic. Today we are performing a SMAS lift with the Ulthera device. Focused ultrasound reaches deeper tissue layers, creating thermal coagulation points and stimulating collagen production. The aim is to improve the facial contour gradually and reduce the appearance of a double chin. Suitability is not determined by age alone; the clinician assesses the tissues and the patient’s needs. Results develop over several months and usually peak after about two to four months. Repeat timing is individual.
RDG dermatologists
Doctors for technology selection and treatment planning
During consultation, the doctor establishes whether the priority is deeper tissue tightening, skin texture, scars, or a combination before selecting a device and settings.
Your treatment pathway
From skin and tissue assessment to suitable technology
Goal, skin phototype, and tissue structure
The doctor assesses surface texture, scars, elasticity, volume loss, tissue thickness, tanning, and post-inflammatory pigmentation risk.
Depth, intensity, and alternatives
Ultrasound, non-ablative or ablative laser, and other options are compared. A combined plan or another method may be more appropriate.
Course and recovery
Session number, intervals, redness or downtime, sun restrictions, and the fair time to assess results are agreed before treatment.
Before your appointment
Common questions about device-based collagen stimulation
Which technology gives the best result?
There is no single best technology. Ulthera focuses on deeper tissue tightening, ResurFX on non-ablative skin remodelling, and CO₂ on more intensive surface and texture correction. Selection follows the specific goal.
How does ResurFX differ from fractional CO₂?
ResurFX heats tissue without removing the whole surface. CO₂ creates microscopic ablation columns. Recovery is usually more pronounced after CO₂, while ResurFX is more often planned as a course.
Can Ulthera replace laser resurfacing?
Usually not. Ulthera reaches deeper support layers and does not treat the skin surface like a fractional laser. Scars or texture concerns may require laser treatment or a combined plan.
How long is recovery?
Ulthera usually leaves the surface intact. ResurFX may cause redness and swelling for several days. Fractional CO₂ can involve peeling, crusting, and more prolonged redness.
When will I see results?
Remodelling develops over weeks and months. Initial swelling or redness is not the result; texture is assessed after healing and deeper tightening over several months.
Can treatments be combined?
Sometimes, because they reach different layers. The doctor determines sequence and intervals so tissues recover and inflammation or pigment-change risk is not increased unnecessarily.
A well-founded first step
Choose technology for the tissue need, not its popularity
Request an in-person consultation. The doctor will assess your goal, skin phototype, tissues, and acceptable recovery before creating an individual plan.
